Mammary gland: this is a nodular, unencapsulated, expansile, densely cellular, neoplastic mammary mass. It is composed of glands and branching tubules lined by a one cell-thick cuboidal epithelium supported by a moderate amount of fibrovascular stroma.
NOTE: Epidermal or follicular differentiation are common in transgenic mice with activated Wnt/beta catenin pathways, and also in spontaneous mammary tumors. However, sebaceous differentiation is very uncommon in mouse mammary adenocarcinomas. |
