Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Small intestine: the adenoma is composed of slender papillae lined by a one cell-thick columnar epithelium supported by a small amount of fibrovascular stroma. Neoplastic cells occasionally pile-up disorderly. Neoplastic cells are columnar with a moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm. Except in the deepest portions of the adenoma, neoplastic cells seldom contain mucin droplets. The nucleus is oval, medium-size, slightly hypochromatic, with a clumped chromatin, and 2-3 small basophilic nucleoli. Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are mild. Mitoses and apoptotic figures are numerous. The superficial portions of the neoplasm are eroded.
