Mammary mass: the neoplasm is composed of large ducts which are variably ectatic and contain a proteinaceous material. Frond-like projections and a few glands arise from the ducts. Two discrete populations of cells can be identified on H&E sections: a population of large cells with a moderate amount of a pale amphophilic cytoplasm and an hypochromatic nucleus, and a population of smaller cells with a small amount of amphophilic cytoplasm and an eu- to hyperchromatic nucleus. When found in the same duct, the large cells tend to be apical while the smaller cells are basal. |
