Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Subcutaneous mass (portion): this is a large, moderately cellular neoplastic mass. It is mostly composed of interlacing bundles (Antoni type B) supported by a moderate amount of generally loose fibrovascular stroma. At the center of the photomicrograph, neoplastic cells form a small rounded fascicle, a pattern known as Antoni type A pattern. Neoplastic cells are oat-shaped to fusiform, with indistinct cell borders and a moderate amount of delicately fibrillar acidophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus is central, slightly elongated, medium-sized, and normochromatic. Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are mild. Mitoses are rare. The tumor is diffusely infiltrated by a small number of lymphocytes.
