Subcutaneous mass (portion): this is a large, moderately cellular neoplastic mass. It is mostly composed of fascicles arranged in rows (Antoni type A pattern) supported by a moderate amount of loose fibrovascular stroma. Neoplastic cells are fusiform, with indistinct cell borders and a moderate amount of delicately fibrillar acidophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus is central, slightly elongated, medium-sized, and normochromatic. Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are mild. Mitoses are rare. The tumor is diffusely infiltrated by a small number of lymphocytes. |
