Haired skin: neoplastic trabeculae and nests comprise a basal layer of cells, 3-10 layers of cells resembling the cells of the stratum spinosum, and a variably thick layer of cells resembling the cells of the stratum granulosum. Most neoplastic structures are moderately distended by cornified material. Small islets of neoplastic cells have invaded the stroma (at the center of the photomicrograph). Neoplastic cells are large, polygonal, with distinct cell borders, occasionally intercellular bridges, and a moderate to large amount of strongly acidophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus is central, oval, medium-sized, and slightly hypochromatic. Anisocytosis and anisokaryosis are mild. Mitoses are rare. |
