Monstrocellular glioma: the neoplasm is composed of solid sheaths supported by a small amount of fibrovascular stroma. Most neoplastic cells a medium-size, histiocytoid, with indistinct cell borders and a moderate amount of acidophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus is central, large, medium-size, hypochromatic, with a clumped chromatin and 1-3 medium-size to large nucleoli. A few nuclei are large and multilobulated (arrow). Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are prominent. A few neurons (arrowhead) persist within the neoplasm. |
