Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Early stages of in situ mammary carcinoma: this photomicrograph represents the appearance of the mammary gland of this mouse model in the early stages of neoplastic transformation. There is prominent lobular hyperplasia with accumulation of inspissated proteinaceous material in many alveoli and intralobular ducts. Alveoli and intralobular ducts are lined by a prominent epithelium that confers a "crowded" appearance to these structures. Cells do not pile-up disorderly and there is no evidence of atypia. Apoptotic cells are numerous.
