Mammary gland: the mammary gland is expanded by small, well-delineated, unencapsulated, and densely cellular nodule. This nodule is composed of closely packed glands and intralobular ducts which show mild to moderate ectasia and contain an amorphous proteinaceous fluid. Alveoli and ducts are lined by a cuboidal epithelium. |
Description |
Hyperplastic alveolar nodule, mammary gland |
Age at Necropsy |
unknown |
Notes |
This case is representative of the morphologic transition between an hyperplastic alveolar nodule (HAN) to an adenoma. Although the cells forming this nodule are very monotonous, this nodule is unencapsulated, which prompted a diagnosis of hyperplastic alveolar nodule rather than a diagnosis of adenoma. |
