Trabecular/solid mammary carcinoma: the neoplasm is composed of thick anastomosed trabeculae and solid areas with prominent central necrosis and supported by a small amount of dense fibrovascular stroma. Neoplastic cells are polygonal to oat-shaped, medium-size, eith ill-defined cell borders and with a small to moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm. The nucleus is central, round, and slightly hyperchromatic. Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are mild. Mitoses are numerous. A moderate number of individual cells and small clusters of cells with a pale cytoplasm and a slightly hypochromatic nucleus (arrowheads) are scattered among the other neoplastic cells. |
