Early epithelial to mesenchymal transition: this photomicrograph illustrates a portion of the neoplasm that shows changes consistent with the early stages of epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Neoplastic cells form cords and gradually become spindloid. A few individual neoplastic cells with a spindloid phenotype are present in the stroma (arrowheads).
