Thyroid gland: the area of adenomatous hyperplasia is composed of variably-sized follicles lined by a cuboidal to low columnar epithelium. The cells are polygonal, large, with a pale delicately vacuolated cytoplasm and a medium-sized, central, hyperchromatic nucleus. Anisokaryosis is mild. Mitoses are not detected.
