Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Pancreas: a small, nodular, expansile, unencapsulated, well-delineated, densely cellular neoplastic mass is present in the pancreas. This neoplasm is composed of nests and trabeculae separated by a small to moderate amount of loose fibrovascular stroma with large cystic blood-filled vascular spaces.

Description

Islet cell carcinoma, endocrine pancreas

Age at Necropsy

134 days

Notes

The neoplasm is considered malignant in spite of the fact that it is well-delineated and invasive because of the high mitotic rate. Similar variably-sized tumors are present in the pancreas of this mouse.
