Lung: all pulmonary arteries are surrounded by a thick cuff of neoplastic lymphocytes which account for about 10% of the surface of the section. Neoplastic cells often markedly thicken the wall of pulmonary arteries. They form closely-packed sheets supported by a scant amount of fibrovascular stroma. Neoplastic cells are round to oval, have a small to moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm and a medium-sized eccentric nucleus. Numerous neoplastic cells undergo apoptosis and mitotic rate is high. |
