Mammary gland: the neoplasm is composed of radiating and branching ducts terminated by club-shaped masses of cells which caricature the terminal end bud of the developping mammary gland. Labeling for keratin 14 is detected in basal and suprabasal cells in the areas of ductal differentiation. Labeling for keratin 14 is not detected in the solid portions of the neoplasm. |
Description |
Carcinoma, tubular, solid (type P tumor), mammary gland |
Age at Necropsy |
422 days |
Notes |
This type of neoplasm is named "type P tumor" in accordance to the current literature. Myoepithelial differentiation is a prominent feature of "type P tumors". Immunolabeling for keratin 17 of "type P tumors" is consistent with the pattern of differentiation named by some authors "follicular/epidermal transdifferentiation". |
