Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Mammary gland: labeling for keratin 17 is predominantly detected in suprabasal cells in the areas of ductal differentiation. This pattern of labeling mimics that of the normal outer root sheath of the hair follicle.

Description

Carcinoma, tubular, solid (type P tumor), mammary gland

Age at Necropsy

422 days

Notes

This type of neoplasm is named "type P tumor" in accordance to the current literature. Myoepithelial differentiation is a prominent feature of "type P tumors". Immunolabeling for keratin 17 of "type P tumors" is consistent with the pattern of differentiation named by some authors "follicular/epidermal transdifferentiation".
