Pathology Image Detail
Caption |
This is a 40x image stained with aldehyde fuschin. It is a higher magnification of the left-center area of the 25x image. |
Description |
This is the pancreas and adjacent soft tissues from a 12 month old female KK/HiJ mouse. The pancreas is in the top of the field in the low magnification image. The tissue is stained with aldehyde fuschin to label beta cells that contain insulin (dark purple). The lower left half of the image contains two oval masses. The right one consists of white fat and amorphous pink material (coagulative necrosis of adipocytes). Although no stalk is evident in this section, this most likely was a pedunculated lipoma that underwent torsion of the stalk resulting in infarction of the lipoma. |
