This is a 10x image stained with aldehyde fuschin.

Description

This is the pancreas from a 20 month old KK/H1J male mouse. The tissue is stained with aldehyde fuschin to label beta cells that secrete insulin purple. The acinar tissue appears to be normal. Four pancreatic islets of Langerhans are present in the low magnification image. The three small ones are purple in color indicating they are relatively normal and contain predominantly beta cells. The central large islet is unusually large. There is a cresent of beta cells present and cells within the islet stain purple to various degrees. This is a pancreatic islet adenoma.
