Description

gingival squamous cell carcinoma

Age at Necropsy

629 days

Notes

This is a locally aggressive gingival squamous cell carcinoma in a 629 day old WSB/EiJ female mouse. It is in the site of the base of the molars that are inflammed due to impaction with food and hair that result in ulceration of the gingiva. Note the islands of squamous cells infiltrating into the alveolus of the bone. There are numerous mitotic figures and epithelial (keratin) pearl formations characteristic of squamous cell carcinomas.
