This is the cervix from the lower reproductive tract of a 781 day old female DBA/2J mouse. Note the invasive stratified squamous epithelium with mucous differentiation on the lumenal surface. The latter is the change associated with estrus. However, the mucosa does not normally invade in this manner suggesting that this is an early squamous cell carcinoma. |
