This is the tail from a 451 day old female mouse. The mouse is an F2 hybrid from a cross between a C3H/HeJ female with alopecia areata and a C57BL/6J male. The mice in this study were used to dissect the genetic basis of alopecia areata. Background diseases were evaluated concurrently. This is a case of a locally extensive spindle cell tumor. It is most likely a fibrosarcoma but a differential diagnosis should include a nerve sheat tumor. |
