ureter papilloma

Notes

This is a group photomicrographs of the kidney and closely associated structures. The kidney has undergone degenerative changes in which the parenchyma has been compressed and destroyed by the increased back pressure of urine (hydronephrosis) caused by an inflammatory polp or papilloma within the ureter which effectively blocked drainage. While hard to find in tissue sections, these papillomatous lesions are not uncommonly associated with hydronephrosis in mouse kidneys, especially when unilateral.
