Description

rhabdomyosarcoma

Age at Necropsy

652 days

Notes

This is a series of photomicrographs of a large invasive cancer found within skeletal muscles of a 652 day old AB6F2 mouse in an alopecia areata genetic study. This is a very aggressive and poorly differentiated rhabdomyoscaroma. Remnants of skeletal muscle cells are present, often with linear arrangements of nuclei. Mitotic index is relatively high. Many areas have poorly differentiated skeletal muscle cells. There are scattered areas of necrosis where the cancer has outgrown its blood supply.
