skin nerve sheath tumor

Age at Necropsy

676 days

Notes

This is a series of photomicrographs of a nerve sheath tumor found within the skin of a 676 day old AB6F2 mouse in an alopecia areata QTL genetic study. Note the homogeneous population of spindle shaped cells forming a herring bone-like pattern typical of this type of tumor. However, immunohistochemistry needs to be done to confirm the diagnosis and specific cell type of origin.
