Secretory mammary adenocarcinoma with squamous differentiation: this photomicrograph illustrates an area of transition between a portion of the tumor with a glandular to solid pattern and secretory activity (S), and a portion of the neoplasm with cornification (C). Cornification is abrupt in this portion of the neoplasm, is not associated with the presence of trichohyalin or keratohyalin granules, and results in the production of concentric layers of rafts of cornified debris. Rafts of cornified debris and degenerated neutrophils form concentric layers at the center of the area of cornification. |
Description |
Adenocarcinoma, secretory, with squamous differentiation, mammary gland |
Age at Necropsy |
251 days |
Notes |
This mouse had multiple mammary tumors. Each of these tumors is presented in a different pathology record. These tumors were all secretory adenocarcinomas with prominent squamous differentiation, although the relative ratio of glandular areas and areas with squamous differentiation differed among these tumors. This mouse had undergone 4 cycles of gestation and lactation. |
