Pathology Image Detail

Caption

Mammary secretory adenocarcinoma: the mammary gland is entirely effaced by a multilobular, encapsulated, densely cellular neoplastic mass. The neoplasm is composed of closely-packed glands lined by a one cell-thick cuboidal epithelium supported by a scant amount of fibrovascular stroma. Neoplastic cells often pile-up disorderly and form small solid areas. They are cuboidal to polygonal, with indistinct cell borders and a moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm which often contains numerous lipid vacuoles of various sizes.

Description

Adenocarcinoma, secretory, with squamous differentiation, mammary gland

Age at Necropsy

251 days

Notes

This mouse had multiple mammary tumors. Each of these tumors is presented in a different pathology record. These tumors were all secretory adenocarcinomas with prominent squamous differentiation, although the relative ratio of glandular areas and areas with squamous differentiation differed among these tumors. This mouse had undergone 4 cycles of gestation and lactation.
