Lung: the neoplastic epithelium is 2-6 cells-thick and shows keratinization that is either abrupt (as in a hair follicle) and which results into the formation of large rafts of parakeratotic cells, or that is associated with the formation of a layer of cells resembling the stratum granulosum of the epidermis and that is associated with the formation of lamellar cornified flakes. There is a prominent lymphocytic, plasmacytic and neutrophilic infiltrate at the periphery of the metastasis. |
