This higher magnification allows to better visualize the glandular features of this neoplasm. The glandular structures are lined by a one cell-thick cuboidal to low columnar epithelium. Neoplastic cells are cuboidal to low columnar, with indistinct cell borders, and a moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm which often contains numerous coalescing and optically empty vacuoles (lipids), and occasionally a few acidophilic droplets. The nucleus is basal, oval to round, small to medium-sized, and hyperchromatic. Anisokaryosis and anisocytosis are mild. Proteinaceous secretions occasionally moderately expand the lumen of some glands. |
