Small intestine - normal tissue. There is strong labeling of all mitotic figures for cdk4 (antibody diluted at 1:25, tissue fixed in Bouin's solution, heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer at pH=6.0). There is also moderate labeling of the nucleus of most enterocytes and scattered cells (plasma cells?) in the lamina propria of the small intestine. Enterocytes and cells in the lamina propria did not label for cdk4 for tissues fixed in fixatives other than Bouin's solution. Hence labeling of the nucleus of plasma cells and enterocytes was interpreted as an artifact. |
