These animals were injected with BrdUrd (10 mg/kg body weight) 1 h before death, and analysis of BrdUrd incorporation demonstrated a significantly higher S-phase fraction (P < 0.05 for three matched pairs) in the Rb+/=; ARF-/- sample (D) relative to the Rb+/= control (C).

Description

Midsagittal section of a pituitary tumor stained with BrdUrd showing 15.3 +/- 4% positive nuclei. Only low levels of apoptosis were observed by either TUNEL staining or study of H&E stained slides. Tumor size and stage was similar to that found in 6.5 month old Rb1 heterozygote mouse.
