The vertebral body and surrounding skeletal muscle are shown here from a 651 day old female A/J mouse with a rhabdomyosarcoma, a malignant and invasive neoplasm of the skeletal muscle. Note to the right of the vertebral body the epaxial muscles are normal. By contrast on the left the cells are small, pleomorphic, and invading into the marrow cavity of the vertebral body. |
