Description

adrenal cortical adenoma

Age at Necropsy

890 days

Notes

This is the adrenal gland from a 890 day old male C3H/HeJ mouse. Note the adrenal cortex is effaced by a neoplastic process. This is a locally extensive adrenal cortical adenoma which is a common aging lesion in this inbred strain. Also note the yellow-borwn pigment laden cells. This is lipofuschin pigment which is another common aging change seen in the adrenal glands of mouse inbred strains of mice.
