Haired skin and conjunctiva - normal tissue. There is weak to moderate staining of the cytoplasm of suprabasal cells of the conjunctiva and of the outer root sheath for vimentin (antibody diluted at 1:500, tissue fixed in Fekete's solution, heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer at pH=6.0). This staining is interpreted as a non-specific reaction.
NOTE: This antibody against vimentin fails to label most skeletal muscle fibers. In addition, it labels some epithelia. It is also associated with some background and small clumps of brown pigment scattered all over the slide. Centrifugation of the antibody did not prevent the formation of small clumps of brown pigment over the tissues. |
