Colon - normal tissue. There is strong labeling for Clara cell protein 26KD of the superficial portions of the colonic epithelium (antibody diluted at 1:800, tissue fixed in Fekete's solution, heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer at pH=6.0).
NOTE: Possible causes for labeling of the optic nerve fibers layer suggests that the antibody for Clara cell protein 26KD is not specific or that this protein is not exclusively expressed in Clara cells. Alternatively, labeling of colonic cells may represent non-specific staining which is common for these cells and which is caused by the hydrophobic nature of their mucus droplet. |
